So j and e have a terrible diaper rash we have been trying to get rid of for awhile now. We have been to the doctor multiple times they have had every kind of cream and antibiotic you could think of, baking soda baths, no wipes. We have made slurries of different pastes and concoctions and slathered them up. But to no avail. It keeps getting better then coming back. When it gets bad the doc says to let them hang out with their diapers off for a few minutes at each diaper change. Which wouldn't be a problem except that they are at the "Rollie pollie, scooting, everything in the mouth, toy snatching, 2.5 second attention span and onto the next shiny thing"phase.
So I put out a huge and very absorbent old blanket on the floor put a bunch of toys out for them wrestled them out of their pj's and diapers and let them hang out in all their glory.
This is my third day home by myself with them because Jeremy has been working extra shifts (72 hours instead of the normal 48) so I can barely keep my eyes open. I leave them on the rug and go into the kitchen, which is about 2 ft away, for 30 seconds to go make myself some tea and attempt to peal my eyes open and start the day.
I come back to find poop. Lots and lots of stinky baby poop. And not just normal stinky but really really stinky from all the hypoallergenic formula and whatever else I have been feeding them. And it wasn't just a neat little pile, no. He had pooped and then rolled in it. I went to move him out of it and clean him up and the first thing he does is lunge for a big handful of it and where do you think he was gonna put it? Ahhhhh no! Simultaneously the dog has come over and started to sniff the sinky pile and e is on her way rolling right to it. So what is a twin mama to do? Use every resource necessary to overt disaster. Grab james' hand and don't let him eat it, block Ellie's rolling with your foot and the dog with the other all while getting a wet cloth to clean the mess. Oh and did I mention he found the one space the blanket didn't cover so it is now ground into the carpet. Anyone have a number for a good carpet cleaner?
Just another 5 minutes in my life, I certainly wouldn't trade it but what a mess!
