Six months old

James and Elliana turned six months old this month. They had a check up and they are growing just as they should be. James is 15 lbs 2 oz and Ellie is 17 lbs 15 oz. We started solid foods in January and they love it!! James gobbles up pretty much anything we put in front of him...like a true Slaughter boy, while Ellie tends to be more picky at first and takes her time to decide if she likes something. Ellie's favorites are apples and fruit. James LOVES sweet potatoes. He also likes squash, pears, pumpkins etc. We have had some interesting combos while we are trying to hide their not so favorites like banana, green beans, and avocados.
James has decided he likes to suck his thumb to fall asleep. He likes to help hold his bottle or spoon during feedings. He also started pulling his knees up under his tummy and scooting around the floor. James and Ellie have really started chatting with each other and interacting more and more. They have also started stealing toys from one another which has lead to some inevitable meltdowns.

Ellie loves her little doll and takes it every where. She has started rolling from her back to her tummy and pivots on her tummy to get toys and things she wants. She is super chatty and has started saying "mama." They both love going for walks and the zoo. She is really observant and can sometimes be slow to warm up to strangers, unlike James who flirts with any women who look his way. They both have the most adorable laughs and we frequently get caught up in moments of laughter with them.

Jeremy and I were just talking about where our lives were a year ago and we couldn't believe the change. We are so thankful for our beautiful family. I feel so so honored to get the chance to be James and Ellie's mama. I feel such overwhelming joy and love for our sweet babies. My favorite time of day is coming home from work, opening the door, and seeing them recognize me as I walk in and they smile and giggle and can't wait for me to hold them.

Jeremy is an amazing dad. He is home with the babies on his days off while I am at work and he is absolutely great at it!! He accomplishes more than I ever could and the babies are so so happy. I love the relationship they have with Jeremy. Ellie is a total daddy's girl already!
My handsome guys :)

I applied for a job share position for next year so I can be half time. I am waiting to hear if it gets approved but I am so so hopeful!! I have loved spring break and I am counting down the days until summer!!

Happy Six months babies!! They are going to be crawling before we know it!! Each stage brings new and exciting changes and challenges. Now more than ever we realize what a gift it is for healthy, happy children and we are so so thankful!
